Year 4 & 5: Wood/Appliances

I didn't post from the last couple years, as we had some circumstances that prevented us from celebrating in 2021. Instead, I ended up getting a silver card that said I had loved him for four years, forty-eight months, 1,460 days, etc. He keeps this card in his wallet wherever he goes, maybe I'll get him a more updated one for him in future years.

For our fifth anniversary, we celebrated just being together. The night before our anniversary, out of the blue he proclaimed "I didn't get you an anniversary gift." I asked if he forgot, to which he said no, so we had a talk about gift giving and I discovered that he has severe gift giving anxiety. We decided that moving forward, if one wanted to get a gift we could, but it was not mandatory. That way, the pressure would be taken off of trying to find a "perfect" gift for birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries. I told him that I had gotten something that we could both share, as I usually try to do every year. Since this year the theme was wood, I bought us a hanging mail box with three slots and three hooks for keys or other items. We promptly hung it up within the following weeks.

Since we missed out on celebrating in 2021, we decided to go out somewhere fancy that would still be within our budget. We went to the Downtown Grill, which is where we went for our second anniversary. It was just as good as I remember it, with delicious food, amazing desserts, and great staff that took care of whatever you needed. Since it was our anniversary we got a free cheesecake, which of course was amazing.
